Two awards will be distributed this year during EFTF :
2005 "European Frequency and Time" Award
The European Frequency and Time Forum (E.F.T.F.) has triggered the creation of the "European Frequency and Time Award" which goal is to recognize outstanding contributions in all fields covered by the EFTF. The award consists of 1500 € and a limited edition original print and certificate. The award is in principle attributed each two years, starting in 1993, by the Société Française de Chronométrie (said Société Française des Microtechniques et de Chronométrie).
The award is open to any worker in the fields traditionnaly associated with the EFTF. The goal is to encourage scientific effort and competition. It recognizes exceptionnal contributions providing worldwide recognition in the community either for fundamental advances or applied work for future or present applications. The significance of contributions include degree of initiative and creativity, quality of work, degree of success obtained and worldwide scientific impact on "Time and Frequency Community".
Anyone in the community may nominate anyone. Nominations should include a short résumé of the candidate together with description of accomplishments and reasons for nomination (2 or 3 pages in total). Nominations should be submitted to Pr. R.J. Besson, geberal chairman of the 2005 EFTF, or to the executive committee of EFTF in charge of the selection of the recipients.
2005 "European Young Scientist" Award
The European Frequency and Time Forum (E.F.T.F.) has triggered the creation of the "European Young Scientist Award" which goal is to distinguish a personal contribution showing a high degree of initiative and creativity, leading to already established or easily foreseeable outstanding advances in terms of time and frequency metrological performance. A prerequisite is that the work to be taken into consideration has been published in the proceedings of the European Frequency and Time Forum or the IEEE Frequency Control Symposium.
The award consists of 600 € and a limited edition original print and certificate. The award is attributed after a decision of the board of the Société Française de Chronométrie (said Société Française des Microtechniques et de Chronométrie).
The award will honour a person under the age of 40 at the date of the opening session of EFTF 2005. The goal is to encourage scientific effort and competition and to help young scientists in their future.
Nominations :
They can be submitted by any Senior Scientist known in the community. Each nomination should include a short résumé of the candidate together with description of accomplishments and reasons for nominations (2 or 3 pages in total). A list of publications should be added. Dead line : January 15th, preceding the Forum.
Nominations should be submitted to Pr. R.J. Besson, general chairman of the 2005 EFTF, or to the executive committee of the EFTF in charge of the selection of the recipients.
